Eugen Bolch, age 93 of Monroeville, passed away on Sunday, November 27, 2022. He was born in Heilbronn, Germany on June 9, 1929 to the late Richard and Anna (Correll) Bolch. He married the late Ruth Frida Stegmaier in January of 1954.
Together with his wife, he emigrated to the United States in 1957 just in time for the birth of his only child, Manfred in July of that same year. They resided almost all the many years thereafter in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh, culminating in an award-winning, self-designed house in which he lived to the very end of his life. Eugen worked most of his career at Hamill Manufacturing Company, first as a machinist making precision nuclear grade tools. Later as a machine shop supervisor and in other supervisory capacities until his retirement in 1993.
He was an avid photographer who ultimately contributed many photos to the Monroeville Historical Society, and, in his retirement, he became a budding artist obsessed with intricate pieces of anything nature had to offer, creatively assembling them into artfully decorated rock paintings and his infamous "squiggles".
After the passing of Ruth in 1996, Eugen eventually found a new partnership with his long-term companion, Nancy Nichols, with whom he proudly hiked almost every day on the trails of Duff Park in Murrysville for the last 20 years.
Eugen is survived by his son, Manfred (Dr. Vanessa Richardson) Bolch, and by his companion, Nancy Nichols. At Eugen's request, all services will be held privately. JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 118 Shaw Avenue, Turtle Creek (412-823-1950). Entombment to be held in Restland Memorial Park. www.jobefuneralhome.com.
