Harold Edward "Hal" Walchli
Age 99 of Monroeville, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 23, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Ruth Esther (Klenck) Walchli. Loving father of Gary Edward Walchli and James David (Marina) Walchli. Proud grandfather of Sara Bonnue Walchli, Shirin Parineh, and Mariam Parineh. In addition to his wife and infant son, Donald Thomas Walchli, he was preceded in death by his parents, Hans and Zada (Brands) Walchli and his brothers Richard Walchli, Randall (the late Lucille) Walchli, and Raymond Walchli. Hal is survived by Marlene Walchli, Sonia Shafazand, Pam Walchli, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Hal honorably served in the US Army as an electrical engineer and was stationed in Oak Ridge, TN, where he worked on research for the Manhattan Project. After the war he spent the remainder of his career as an electrical engineer and engineering manager for Westinghouse Nuclear Power. Hal was a 32˚ Freemason and a long time member of the Monroeville United Methodist Church. Since his childhood, Hal was a lifelong ham radio operator W3TWI.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday, June 28, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747). A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2022 at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at Cross Roads Cemetery.
