Jennie Monta, age 87, of Slickville, passed peacefully in the early hours of March 25, 2024 at home. She was supported on her journey home by her children, extended family, friends and neighbors. She was born in Slickville on March 21, 1937 to the late Peter and Blanch (Stein) Runco and has been a resident of Slickville for her entire life. She worked as a custodian at James H. Metzgar Elementary School and after retirement worked as the "donut lady" at the Brink Oven Bakery on Rt 22 till she turned 80. She loved going to Polka Jams, dancing and being with her family and friends. She could be seen most warm days sitting on her swing on the front porch and found great joy when someone would wave, toot or stop to chat. She is survived by five of her children, Suzanne Paouncic, Brian Monta, Tim Monta, Lance (Melinda) Monta, and Ross (Dru) Monta; nine grandchildren, Joe and Nick Paouncic, G.P. Ill and Deven Monta, Luke, Logan and Lawson Monta, and Chandler Carlson, Dominic and Rylie Monta; and two great-grandchildren Jane and Jack Paouncic along with loving nieces, nephews, brother in laws, and friends to numerous to name. She is preceded in death by her husband George (Kite) and son George Peter Jr; The Runco Sisters Bessie Kingon, Mary (George) Biesuz, Caroline (Pete) Jobe, Josephine Bohichick and Roseanna (Peewee) Shepherd; and brothers Dominic and Peter Runco. The family would like to thank the people who cared for her during her illness these last several months. The incomparable staff at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in Irwin, the staff at Redstone Highlands and the dedicated caring nurses and aids of Family Hospice. Friends and family will be received Thursday March 28, 2024, 2 pm - 4 pm & 6 pm - 8 pm at Bash-Nied-Jobe Funeral Home, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont (724-468-8381). A funeral liturgy will be held on Friday March 29, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Sylvester Catholic Church 3028 PA-819, Slickville, everyone please meet at church.
