Wesley Piros Obituary

Wesley Edward Piros, age 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 8, 2022. He was born in Pittsburgh on October 5, 1923 to the late Wesley and Helen Piros.  Beloved husband of the late Helen “Madge” (Sember) Piros, father to Wesley L. Piros (Susan), Kathryn Jurinko (Stephen), Mark Piros (Kimberly), Kenneth Piros (Gayle); grandfather to 10 grandchildren; Lindsay (Tim), Ryan, Stephen (Jessica), Kristen (Jimmy), Alex, Chris, Julia (Joe), Daniel (Candice), Tommy, and Nathan; great-grandfather to Andrew, Savannah, Riley, Abby, Luna, and Phoebe. Wes attended the University of Pittsburgh for Pre-Med,  interrupted in 1943 when he enlisted in the United States Army Air Force as an Aviation Cadet. He achieved the rank of Flight Officer and served two years as a B-24 Navigator. Wes and Madge married in November, 1947 and eventually moved to Penn Hills where they raised their family. Wes worked 40 plus years for Westinghouse Corporation where he was Manager of Health, Safety, and Services at the Cheswick Nuclear Plant. He then moved to Seven Springs and started the next chapter of his life as a ski instructor. Wes was an avid outdoor adventurer. He was a scuba instructor, ski instructor, rock climber, spelunker and a Boy Scout Master for the troop where his three boys all obtained Eagle Scout. He continued to teach skiing at Seven Springs into his late 80’s where he developed lifelong friends. He had a great passion for photography and served as President of the Pittsburgh Amateur Photography Club. His pursuit of unique pictures and adventure took him to locations that included the Galapagos Islands, Cayman Islands and Canada to see polar bears.  Wesley's family is deeply grateful to the administration and staff of Juniper Village in Forest Hills for their kindness, cheerfulness, and the exceptional care they gave to Wes this past year and the good friends that stayed present and helped give his life meaning.  They will never be forgotten. Friends and family will be received Sunday, May 15, 2022 from 3-7 p.m. at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC.
